Like so many of us, Australia is no stranger to climate catastrophe, including the recent flooding in Queensland and the devastating bushfires. And as we know, food insecurity is often caused or exacerbated by these disasters, but it’s also an ongoing crisis. In fact, 3.4 million Australian households faced food insecurity in 2024. Which is why it’s so meaningful that we’re able to distribute over 100,000 nourishing, planet-friendly meals with OzHarvest. In addition to these meals, we’re collaborating on an educational outreach program across Australia, reaching 750 schools and over 22,000 students.
And through our partnership with Billie and Reverb, Support+Feed is talking to fans at Billie’s concerts across Australia about the benefits of plant-based eating and the Support+Feed Pledge.
Here are a few more highlights from my trip:

- I visited OzHarvest to help pack plant-based meals as part of our food distribution partnership, and I went live on IG with their founder Ronni Kahn.
- I joined a plant-based dinner with female climate scientists and activists at Yulli’s Bar & Restaurant, and have really been enjoying the all the wonderful plant-based offerings generally down here.
- I ran into an old friend at one of Billie’s Sydney shows – climate scientist Chris Turney, host of the incredible podcast Unf*cking the Future (I was a guest on one of his episodes).
- I attended the Bush Fire Survivors for Climate five year anniversary event at the Australian Museum, which was very moving and inspiring.
- And I had the chance to do a little sightseeing on Saturday. What a beautiful country!
I never imagined, when we started Support+Feed in 2020, that our impact would soon reach the opposite end of the globe (1.5 million meals and pantry items later!), and we couldn’t have done it without support from our community. If you have the means to give, please consider helping us continue to grow our footprint and deliver our next 1.5 million meals.
With gratitude,
Maggie
