Philly Cheesesteak

YIELDS: 1 sandwich


INGREDIENTS

For the mushroom “steak”
1 tbsp olive oil
1 large white onion, diced
500g oyster mushrooms (tear into thick shreds)
1 tbsp dark soy sauce
1 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp smoked paprika
1 tsp black pepper
salt to taste

 

Cheesesteak
2 vegan cheese slices
1 baguette
2 tbsp vegan mayo
1/2 tbsp dijon mustard

RECIPE

  1. Cook onions on medium heat until they soften (roughly 6-7 minutes).
  2. Add the mushroom shreds and press them down.
  3. Once all the moisture has been cooked out, add the seasonings and the remaining ingredients.
  4. Mix and cook for another 6-7 minutes.
  5. Collect all the mushrooms in the middle and add vegan cheese slices on top.
  6. Add some water to the pan and cover it with a lid to help the cheese melt.
  7. Add the vegan mayo and dijon to your baguette.
  8. Once the cheese is melted, add the mixture to your baguette.
  9. Enjoy!
