INGREDIENTS

  • 1 cup (237 ml) of plant-based milk
  • 1 medium to large peeled banana (fresh or frozen)
  • 2 tbs of peanut butter
  • 1 tbs of seeds (ground flax, chia, etc) or your favorite plant-based protein powder
  • A few ice cubes
  • Sprinkle of cinnamon

OPTIONAL INGREDIENTS
¼ cup of frozen spinach or packed fresh spinach. 1 tbs of coco or cacao powder for a chocolate version. ¼ cup of coffee or 1 tsp of instant coffee, tastes great with the chocolate version too.

RECIPE

Instructions- Blender

  1. Add all the ingredients to the blender and blend on high until smooth.

Instructions- Shaking method

  1. Mash a ripe or defrosted banana and peanut butter in a bowl with a fork until smooth.
  2. In a large jar or shaker bottle, add the mash mixture along with the milk, ground seeds or protein powder, cinnamon, and any optional ingredient you’d like to include.
  3. Shake, shake, shake! Maybe give a stir and scrape the container if needed.
  4. Add the ice, then shake some more until everything is blended, with no chunks of peanut butter or seeds.

CHEF’S NOTES:

  • You can store the shaken mixture in the freezer for up to an hour so it’s colder and gets a little frosty.
  • If you need to sweeten it up a little, like with a greener banana and using spinach, you can add a spoonful of maple syrup or other sweetener.
