As the central US grapples with the aftermath of another round of devastating storms, we’re reflecting on the ongoing meal-distribution work we’re doing in communities that have been impacted by other recent climate catastrophes.
Altadena Library Reopening

We’re now in our fourth month working in the communities affected by the Eaton Fire, and most recently we participated in the official reopening of the Altadena Library – a vitally important hub for the neighborhood. At the WME-sponsored event, supporters were treated to a live reading by celebrated reading aficionado LeVar Burton, with plant-based Mexican fare provided by our longtime partners in this recovery effort, Cena Vegan.
Meal Distribution in Unicoi County, TN

It may be hard to believe, but so many people in the South are still reeling from the after effects of Hurricane Helene, six months later. Our plant-based meal distribution program in hurricane-impacted Unicoi County, Tennessee is still going strong, in partnership with Me & K Kitchen and Unicoi Emergency Response Center.
It’s clearer than ever that dealing with these frequent climate disasters is our new normal. Increasingly, we’re going to have to fill the widening gaps in support, as government funding for food programs continues to be slashed. If you have the means to give, please consider donating to our programs.
