What Our Work Looks Like in London

London has become an important hub of community engagement for us over the past few years. We started collaborating with UK-based organizations and activists in 2022, as part of the Overheated climate summit we co-produced with Billie Eilish that year, and we brought Overheated back to London in 2023.

We’ve worked with some really amazing organizations, including FareShare UK and Made In Hackney. In 2024, our collaboration with FareShare UK enabled the distribution of over 222,000 pounds of fresh produce to communities in need, while our partnership with Made In Hackney delivered 2,700 nutritious plant-based meals directly to underserved communities. This year, we’re dramatically scaling our impact with plans to distribute over 2.6 million pounds of produce across the UK, alongside thousands of additional plant-based meals and educational resources!

Last week, we were in town again for a series of events and activations with our growing circle of partners and allies there, in tandem with Billie’s HIT ME HARD AND SOFT: THE TOUR.

As Support+Feed’s Social Media lead, I discovered some amazing storytelling opportunities that help underscore our mission, which I’ll be sharing over on our Instagram and TikTok.

In the meantime, here are a few highlights from the trip:

Made In Hackney

We had the pleasure of visiting one of our organization partners in London, Made In Hackney. We got to see the behind the scenes magic of Chef Flo and volunteers making 200 plant-based meals for local communities in need.

Primary School Visit with Maggie + Dale Vince OBE

Maggie teamed up with eco-campaigner Dale Vince OBE and the Betty Layward Primary School in Hackney to serve up healthy, delicious plant-based meals to 400 schoolchildren. The school’s cafeteria even created their spin on Maggie’s Buffalo Cauliflower recipe! It was truly inspiring to see how interested the kids were in learning about the benefits of plant-based foods.

Overheated Hotline

In conjunction with Billie’s London shows at the O2, we set up a phone booth inside the venue and invited fans to share how they feel about the climate crisis, how it’s impacted them personally, and any strategies to both cope and help the planet. We’ll be sharing fans’ contributions on our socials in the near future, so stay tuned to our Instagram!

Overheated Fashion Activation

Cultural sustainability agency Black Pearl set up an upcycling pop-up inside of one of the O2’s merch stores, where people could bring in their pre-loved clothes to be mended and customized with limited edition (and eco-friendly) Overheated patches
and DIY mending tutorial kits.

Plant Maps

The O2 went 100% plant-based for all 6 of Billie’s shows! Their menu included items like chipotle tacos, peri peri halloumi wraps, and corn tikki naan. Our “Plant Maps” on display in Billie’s Eco Village and our social media helped fans learn about these menu items and the benefits of eating plant-based.

We’re so grateful to our London community, for welcoming us with open arms and fighting alongside us against food insecurity and the climate crisis!
